Pumpkin

in Plants
I have managed to grow a decent size pumpkin from seeds saved last year from shop bought one ,so I don't know what type it is or anything about it other than now it's about the size if a football, dark green in colour turning yellow, I have rested it on a piece of wood as it's still attached to it's stem and covered it with fleece. My question is, when should I lift it and should I let it 'rest' awhile till we eat it ?

We cut ours, with a long length of stem, last weekend. They are now sitting on flowerpots in the greenhouse ripening up. We save them til end of October ????
Thanks for that. It did seem a good idea but I wasn't sure . I too will keep mine for a couple more weeks at least...like your pictures!
