Water logged lawn

My lawn gets waterlogged when it rains and take a long time to dry out , what would the procedure be to sort this out .

Aerating regularly and adding coarse sand or grit to the holes. If your ground is heavy - clay for instance - there isn't much you can do without taking up the grass and addressing the issue with layers of grit, and/or fine gravel, compost etc, before re laying the lawn.
Other than that, staying off it!
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
As above advice - aerating - there are proper tools but if you dont have them then dig a fork into it every 6-inches to a foot, wobble it about a bit, fill up the holes with sharp sand
I do have clay soil I intend to apply some drain channels but not to sure how to do it as I have no gris to drain water into , or do you think if I dug about a foot out and applied gravel then sharp sand then old soil replaced on to would work , any ideas please .

If you don't have any drainage outlets available you consider digging a soak-away.
What is a soak away
Hollow core and spike aeration does very little to alleviate a waterlogged lawn. That's not what it's used for anyway... it is a process that improves air flow to the root zone of the grass.
Waterlogging requires drainage. A soakaway is a very deep hole or trench that you partially fill with gravel then top with topsoil. You can dig a few trenches across the lawn that lead to it, so any water should drain into the deep hole, down to the bottom and naturally drain away through the ground before the level gets to the surface. Useful where there's no drains to connect to.
