Camelias

I Have 2 camelias each  flowered this year. They are planted 6 feet apart in same part of garden ie dappled shade but 1 of them has lost all its leaves. It still has masses of buds but no leaves. I have checked the roots but nothing nasty there. does anyone have any ideas what's happened

Did the leaves change colour or show any signs of problems before they fell?  Doesn't sound too good I'm afraid image

If you have lost your leaves, it sounds quite recent. These shrubs will have started developing buds in late summer and the leaves will no doubt have been around then.

There are two main things to look at before thinking about pests. The aspect/ soil and watering. They need neutral to acidic soil. They also need watering consisitently for the first year. Watering is best with rain water. A picture would help, as it may show signs of holes, cuts or yellowing.
