Lavender tree leaves

My lav tree has some branches that are all brown and spotted other branches have leaves which are brown and curling - some leaves are dropping off . I have never pruned this tree which in the summer was full of lavender . Unsure what to do ?? Cut is all back ? Advise needed please

What you have there is a Lilac-tree , not Lavender . They are prone to several problems ; have a look at this , it may help
