Fans and Cordons
in Fruit & veg
Hi everyone
I have a south facing space about 5ft wide and 45f long, which is backed by my neighbours 4ft high wooden fence.
I want to grow a variety of fruit trees and bushes in cordon or fan shape here. I will use hazel stakes as upright supports and wires between them. They will be about 6 inches off the fence.
2 questions (well hundreds really, but lets start with two), is it practical to do this since the fence is only 4ft high? Most books say I would need at least 6ft.
What varieties of fruits would you recommend? I am thinking apples, pears, apricots, maybe a peach, and possibly sour cherry, raspberry and gooseberries (though I have an alternative space for the last three)!
Thanks for your thoughts
