Magnolia dying

First of all, please forgive my ignorance, I am just trying to learn about the trees and gardens I've inherited by buying our home. Though it's been a few years now, everything has done so well, I haven't done much for the huge beautiful magnolia in the back yard. We did get some flowers in the spring but it just hasn't been as full of leaves as years past and it looks sickly. Any way to save this beauty? No signs of rot or bugs that I can see. I did something a few years ago to make the soil acidic (I think that's what I had read anyway) but nothing since.  i appreciate any help. image
