Is this a Loquat?

Spotted this lovely tree near where I live in Nottingham. Is it a Loquat? I wouldn't have thought they'd be hardy up here...

I live in the subtropics and have one in my garden. I omitted pruning for a few years, and there it is, some 25 feet high ! Now I have to gather money to have it hacked... Hope that's not a problem in cool temperatures.

THEY GROW VERY EASILY FROM SEED.

WE BROUGHT SOME LOQUATS BACK FROM A HOLIDAY IN SPAIN AND THREW THE SEEDS OUT INTO OUR LONDON GARDEN. VOILÀ, LOQUATS GALORE.image

Apophthegm -  a big word for a small thought.
