Harrogate flower show 9/17
The Harrogate autumn flower show is home to the National Vegetable Championships as well as to specialist competitions (dahlias, bonsai, carnations, honey etc). There aren't many show gardens here, unlike some of the higher-profile shows, but a lot of nurseries have displays and plants for sale. Many of these are specialist growers.
Here are a few photos to give you a feel of this year's offerings. If fruit and veg float your boat, you might like these:
Seriously overgrown courgettes there...
A prizewinning pot leek
Horned melons or Kiwano fruit

Some photos from the show gardens and borders:
Now some entries in the floral competitions:
These have to be the biggest begonia flowers I've ever seen!
And now some displays from the specialist nurseries:
Sarracenias
Not sure I like these coleus, to be honest... but they're certainly eye-catching
Petals on a specialist rose display
Fabulous gladdies...
That's it folks.
Thanks for the pics Liri.
Anyone tasted a horned melon?
Not me Joyce. It doesn't look very tempting.
Lovely photos Liri. Thanks.
Amazing pics! Somewhere i will have to go next year!
Great photos, Liri. Those veg displays floated my boat! Not that I have any ambitions in that direction - quite the opposite. But I love seeing them all laid out so perfectly. And that apple and blackberry picture is the essence of autumn isn't it?
Indeed it is, LG.
It was a competition between baskets of home-grown fruit, and that was the winning entry, I think.
I've only once eaten a medlar - and that was a time too many. But I could happily have scoffed the rest of the fruit!
Never had one, doubt I ever will - but they do look amazing.
Was thinking about going, wish I did now
. Always next year though
