Dont know what this flower is

Hi last this summer I noticed these big tall random plants that i did not plant in my garden grew,they are about 5 or 6ft high and bright yellow as seen in the image below I don't know how they got there wind I guess but I would love to have someone identify them as i fear they might not come back next season.

    I think AnniD is right ; looks like a form of Helianthus pauciflorus , which I believe is perennial .

    I have H.'Lemon Queen' in full glory right now , but I have found it spreads quickly by underground rhizomes , and needs splitting fairly regularly .
