Orchid issue - white spots on leaves

my orchid has been developing white spots on their leaves and the area just expands over time and now brown and dry.
does anyone know what they are?
Following some advice, I have now removed the problem leaves - all leaves are now off, leaving just the root.
Will my plant survive? and what can I do to prevent those white spots again?

Hi carolinelai. Orchids prefer a shaded area out of direct sunlight and they should be watered with rain water rather than tap water. If all the leaves are now off it is unlikely that the orchid will survive.
