Bell peppers problem

I have 20 bell pepper plants that are getting 6 plus hours of full sun each day.  I dont live in the UK but in Southern Spain.  Now, I have noticed 4 peppers on 2 of the plants have a whitish blemish near the top.  It feels spongy but firm.  Also 1 of those 4 has a brown patch.  Both plants are in different containers and have the same compost.  I am thinking that maybe they need some calcium but then all the containers have the same compost and this problem only effects 2 plants.

Any ideas?

I think you answered you're own question there, it looks like sun scorch to me, not a problem that normaly happens in the UK!

Hi Disardo. Yes this is definitely sun scorch. I live down in SW France near to the Pyrenees and have had the same problem with my tomatoes, although not with the peppers as the leaves have prevented the scorch. Next year I'm going to find shading for the toms. You should probably do the same for your peppers if you are growing them in a very hot place, maybe move the containers if possible during the hottest part of the day?

  • Hi Guys and Gals

Many thanks for the replies.  Will cover my Peppers during the hottest part of the day with some netting.

    Regards
