Can anyone please help me identify this plant?

Hello there,

I have this plant growing out garden that I planted in our bed from a plastic pot this spring. I think it is something that I planted from seed last summer but I can't for the life of me remember what it could be!

I don't think it is a weed that just landed in the pot as there were many separate pots and it was neatly there in the centre.

It currently looks quite monstrous and is dominating the bed. I am thinking of pulling it out as soon as I can work out what it is.

Can anyone tell me if this just a weed or something that might flower or do something exciting it hasn't done yet.

    goat willow?

  • Yes ... A fine specimen of a self-sown Salix caprea ... They get everywhere.

The only exciting thing it's likely to do is to get bigger and bigger and then reproduce itself all over your garden.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

  • Thank you very much for your answers! I am going to pull out at once in that case
