Help! New house and Grapes are growing in my garden
in Fruit & veg
Hi all
First time here! We recently bought a house with what appeared to be a pretty tree in the garden. Fast forward a few months and grapes are growing on the tree!! I don't have a clue about looking after a grape vine.
Can I cut some of the branches without killing the tree or preventing grapes growing in future? I love the tree but it appears to be growing out of control!
I'm also concerned the weight it may be putting on the outhouse it is growing over.
This is how it looked before (in April)
And this is what it looks like now.
The fruits do appear to be ready to eat, we've tried a few and they are quite sweet!
Any advice on how to keep it manageable without killing it or preventing fruit growing in future is greatly appreciated.

Cut all new growth back to five leaves from the main stem. ( a couple of leaves beyond the bunch of grapes. That makes the plant put energy into the grapes. In January while the plant is dormant, prune all lateral shoots back to five buds from the main stem.
