What i eating my leaves?

Something is eating the leaves on my rose and blackcurrant bush. I cannot find the culprits even when looking at night. The both have holes in the leaves and a few chucks out of the sides. Both are close to each other in the garden. The black currant looks like it has lacy leaves with lots of tiny holes across the whole plant.

Does any one have any ideas?

THE OLD TRICK USED TO BE

SCRUNCH UP A BIT OF WET NEWSPAPER AND PUT IT IN THE BOTTOM OF A SMALL CLAY POT.

PUSH A 3' CANE INTO THE GROUND NEAR THE PLANTS.

PUT THE CLAY POT UPSIDE DOWN ON THE TOP OF THE CANE.

    LEAVE IT OVERNIGHT.

    CHECK IN THE MORNING.
