Hi Brian. The top one might be an Eremurus or Foxtail Lily. The bottom one looks like Eucomis or Pineapple Flower that has gone to seed.

The first one is Eucomis, probably Sparkling Burgundy.

Eucomis have tufts of leaves at the top of their flowering stems and I cannot make out any tuft of leaves on the top picture.

    Eucomis bicolor =Pic 2

Eucomis comosa 'Sparkling Burgundy' = Pic 1 (doesn't always bear apical tufts of leaves , Why ? I don't know) .

Looks quite pale to be Sparkling Burgundy, but it might just be the pic.

Have you got it in your garden KOG? I'm sure you  mentoned it before  image

It's a lovely plant - might buy another one, although they need to come indoors here for the winter. Depends whether I can be bothered...image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Many thanks
