Does anyone recognise this? It's growing in my 'wild area'. I've scattered so many seeds in this spot that I can lose track. It's only recently popped up so I'm interested in knowing whether it will survive the winter, whatever it is....

I think that's Geum urbanum ... Wood Avens .... Herb Bennett

It will also spread everywhere so watch out for the seeds next year

  • Ah, I see. Maybe I'll pull it then, I've got enough on my plate with the rampant willoherb in my garden without inviting more unruliness! I do like to have self seeders in this patch but they've got to earn their keep and self seed within a defined area...unlike the willowherb that seems to grow everywhere, including my gutters.
