Shrub ID

GraysGrays Posts: 167

Hi all,

Could anyone identify this shrub please, we have a few around the garden, in winter it produces an orange berry.

when would be the best time to prune it? It's very overgrown at the moment and could do with a prune, preferably tonight.

Thanks, ok to prune it today you think?

As you can see from this photo it needs it, and I'm itching to do it.image

The top growth looks like this year's growth. If you cut it all off , you'll lose  most of next year's flowers and berries, but if it's too big, you need to cut it back.

    Cotoneaster francettii

I trim mine throughout the growing season but am careful to leave the berries.
