Strange green prickly plant (identification please)

I hope you dont mind me asking if anyone knows what this interesting looking plant is?
It seems to have appeared over a very short space of time, and we have no idea where it came from.

That was quick. Many thanks. I just googled the name you gave, and it supposed to flower? I can see no flowers on this plant. Is it to early for it to flower?

Its supposed to be quite toxic. But as I dont plan on eating it any time soon, and I think it looks interesting I will leave it there.

You must have missed the flowers...the sputnik thing is the seed pod.

those prickly things are the seed pods, flowers were before them.
It's an annual.
