Extend lawn

hi
I have a decking walk away around the edge of my lawn it is a step up from my patio I am going to take away the decking and hopefully taper the lawn down to meet the patio and seed it, what's to best way to graduate this, I have had 2 tonne of top soil delivered already but don't know where to start.
