Hedychiums are not completely hardy in the UK ; I had some outside for a few years ; lifted and stored in large pots throughout the winter of 2009/10 where we had (in Lincolnshire) five consecutive nights of -12C , only attaining the giddy heights of -6C during the daytime .
If in pots , store frost free but not too dry during the winter .

Hello Rubee

PS Very attractive plants .
If you can keep cannas and dahlias in the ground over the winter, you should be ok with Hedychiums.
I'm in very wet Devon, so I wouldn't dare try them all winter, but I know folk locally who do.
