can I cut the tops off now as they are getting very lanky and with them talking about the weather coming humid for a few days I don't want blight to set in. Regards Peter

I would, they are very susceptible.
worth the trouble though. Particularly good flavour potato and always productive
You could try lifting one plant - you may well already have a good crop worth harvesting. No risk at all then
