hello

first large harvest of my pear tree.

I know that I have to pick the early and before there fully ripe but when is this roughly? Should I be thinking about picking them now??

Thanks

Gently cup the pear in your hand and lift it. If it is ready it will come off. Then store for a day or two to ripen to lusciousness.

I started picking Beth today. The conference are not ready yet, but I like conference when crunchy. They remind me of Pears we used to get from Sammy Hammonds Orchard when I was a kid.  My mum used to scrump them when she was a kid. She called them hazel pears, but I think that is a misnomer for Hessle pears.
