Identifying a plant
in Plants
Can anyone identify this plant. It looks like it belongs to the Hydrangia family, but the flower head is smaller and shaped like a pear, florets are smaller and more delicate, leaves not so broad and not so thick. The plant is not so robust, shorter/smaller. Flower colour is whitish turning pale pinkish when mature. It is perennial and shrubby. Does this help. I have looked through a few books but can`t find it in the hydrangia section.

Sounds like a Vanilla Fraise Hydrangea .
Sounds like one of those varieties to me too Lyn.
The paniculatas have a pear shape flower Glenys - or like a fat buddleia flower, if you know what I mean!
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Thank you all for your advice. I have taken a photo of a plant I have seen, but there is nowhere that I can see to forward it to you. I have looked on Google search and I think you are right in suggesting it be Hydrangea Paniculata Vanille Fraise, or Diamont Rouge, there is also a green variety called "Bobo". I have enough information now for me to go ahead and buy one of them. Thank you all once again.
