Portuguese laurel hedge

I planted a Portuguese laurel hedge around the perimeter of my garden in October past. They were good strong plants in the root ball planted about 15 inches apart. Any tips on what to use to feed them? Chicken manure or a low nitrogen fertiliser? Also, what about pruning to encourage spread?

Fish blood and bone ... a slow release organic 'complete' fertiliser .

How tall is the hedge now ... how has it grown?  a photo would help us image

  • It's about 3ft tall on average. It  was slow to get going in the spring but doesn't look too bad now. Just think it needs a boostimage

I dont think it need a boost now, they'll be going to sleep for the winter soon, feeding will encourage soft new growth, not what you need this time of the year.

Up to you though. Of course.
