2 x Plant ID's

Hi there, can anyone ID these 2 plants for me that I have inherited in the garden of the house we bought. The first is a bit strange in that other than growing lots of green leaves (and quite quickly) it doesn't appear to offer anything else - no blossom or berries or flowers of any kind. I am thinking of getting rid of it to free up some space but want to research it a bit more before I do.
The second I thought was the same as a plant I posted a picture of last week and which was ID'd as a Hypericum, but I have just realised it is different (or at least it looks different).
