will my orchids flower?

staffsmagsstaffsmags Posts: 230

I have a Phalaenopsis and an Epidendrum Ciliare (I think), both given to me last Christmas. Both have grown new leaves. Should I be doing anything with them to encourage flowers? I've never had orchids before and have already founds that they seem to prefer different conditions.  Thanks. Mags

I feed mine with orchid food every couple of weeks when I water and they are always in flower or producing flower stems.

Thanks Erics Mum.  I must admit I haven't been very regular about the feed.  I will put the bottle of feed where I can see it - and I WILL use it!.  Mags

I use a mist spray which is ready-mixed, lazy but effective ! Baby Bio and Miracle Gro both have one.  I give my orchids a quick spritz while I'm waiting for the kettle to boil (they are on the kitchen window sill).

Never heard of the mist spray. I guest it is something with a feed already in it judging my the manufacturers.  I will look for it.  Thank very much.  Mags
