Railway sleepers - untreated

Hello,
I hope someone can help me.
We put new, untreated railway sleepers in our garden a few years ago. However, as you might imagine they are starting to rot.
Does anyone know of any treatment I could do now to stop the rotting / preserve them? I have been advised treating them with Ronseal Wet rot wood hardener and then staining them but that was by B&Q and I'm not sure it'd be well received by the plants?!
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
