I bought a canna lily from my local garden centre. It was with the house plants, but has no instructions how to look after it. Please could you give me some advice about looking after it?

Hi snowy. Can I just ask if you mean Calla lily as opposed to Canna?
Cannas like sun and lots of water, so put the container in a dish containing water so the roots are kept wet.
I am surprised it was in the house plant section as they are big plants and are usually grown outdoors in summer, but they are not hardy.
Sorry, ladybird you are right; it is a calla lily. We grew canna lilies in our French garden so had a senior moment!!
OK snowy. Well there is one hardy Calla called Zantedeschia aethiopica, a lovely white example which can survive outside happily. The coloured Callas are not so robust and need to be protected from frost which is why they are sold as house plants but they can go outside in the summer. There is some excellent advice here:
Thank you for your help, Ladybird.
You are most welcome snowy.
Forgot to say thank you too to Alan for replying.
