18 month old Lavender plants

Hi - I'm new to gardening so please bear with me. I planted some English Lavender plants about 18 months ago & read somewhere that they should not be cut back / pruned until year two after planting. My questions are is that right and if so do I just leave the flower heads alone until August 2018? Hope this makes sense

I bought my lavenders from this company and the web site is excellent. There is a video guide on how and when to prune your lavender. Hope this helps.
