Over large black currant bushes

i know not to prune my black currant bushes till winter but can I cut them back by 30-50% now as they are flopping around all over the place or should I tie them in and wait till January ?

You can prune blackcurrant bushes now. I often prune them just after picking the fruit. Take out the oldest stems completely to the ground, reducing the total number of stems by a third.
Then cut out any stems that cross and will rub on others and let disease in.
