Unidentifiable plant

please could someone help me identify this plant I have discoved in my new garden in Devon. It has Fruit/nut type pods, insideare three seeds inside the one pod I have opened... any help welcomed....also the pod measures approx 7 cm

Tree Paeony. They're not ripe yet, black and shiny is ripe and the pods open.
