Honeysuckle issuestttt and it certainly does

Tizzie44Tizzie44 Posts: 22

i planted a serotina honeysuckle some time back,  is its 3rd summer now. Grows well, looks healthy but not a single flower. I cut it down last October, and it has been fed this spring. Had really high hopes with this plant and it certainly does a good job covering 1 'leg' of the pergola, but I really want some flowers! Any ideas anyone of what I am doing wrong?

I think honeysuckles flower on the wood made the previous year, you cut that off.

So you think I should just tidy it up a bit and leave the bulk of the plant in situ over the winter? Think I will give that a try. Thanks nutcutlet.

If you think it needs tidying up you could tie in those new stems instead of cutting them off.

Might do bit and bit...see where that gets me. Beginning to think this gardening lark has a fair bit of hit and miss about it.
