Many thanks for your comprehensive post, it's hugely appreciated. I've found a north facing area for it protected by my shed, which mean it only gets early morning and after 5pm sun, as well as not being exposed to wind.
Great advice about BM as well, I have one down the road I was going to get some white stones from to replace the wood mulch, so I'll get some B-F-B from there. I may wait until later in the year to re-pot, the shock of all the change might not be so good for it!
