What tree is this?

Hello,
just need some help identifying this tree.
Here are 3 photos
It has a wide spread, say - 8 to12 ft diameter, about 6 ft tall with lots of branches. Any ideas, please let me know!

I agree with nutcutlet.
Definitely Prunus sp...cherry.
Judging by the glands on the leaf stalk ....Prunus avium would be my suggestion.

btw - When is the best time to prune and how much would be safe? I think my friend wants alot taken off, but I'm not sure if thats a good idea... Also, as we're in scotland, would there be any fruit to look forward to?
Do you have Wood pigeons in Scotland? If so, they will take most of the crop.
