I've got a acer platanoides drummondii which has lost its vibrent variagation, not reverted totally back to green but had faded a lot but still just about see it's variagation. Any idea why this has happened???
I think this is perfectly normal for your Acer ; the brilliant and striking variegation fades almost to a dirtiesh green at this time of year . I have a large specimen of this at one of my jobs ; in the same phase .
If you're in any doubt , try getting in touch with Robert343 ; he certainly knows his Acers !
A neighbour of mine has a mature specimen in their garden. In spring when the leaves appear it's really bright and vivid then it fades during the summer then does its stuff again in autumn before leaf fall
