ive just moved into a house and have these plants growing outside in our front garden
could you please help identify them.

The first one is a hardy geranium - there are many varieties, here are just a few

The second looks like Cerastium tomentosum, known as 'Snow in Summer'. If you cut off the dead flower stems it will look much better.
Agree that the second one looks like Cerastium - I have a fair bit in my garden. It is a very good ground cover but as Dove has said need to be cut back after flowering.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
