Copper beech turning green

We have a 20metre approx. Copper beech tree that for the last 4 years has had vibrant purple leaves, but this year the leaves are beginning to go greenish and advice welcome.

This going green thing may just be a short period. Not uncommon for plants with dark leaves. Mainly, it's lack of sunlight that causes this to happen, but not sure if that is for your tree.

Thank you, we do live in north west Derbyshire so this might well be the cause.

Weather conditions can often be the cause of foliage colour changing temporarily, especially if the plant/shrub/tree is stressed in any way at a certain time of year.  They look good here, and we certainly don't get a lot of sun, but plenty of daylight, rain and cooler conditions. I think that suits them well.

You might want to check if there's another reason for the change though.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
