Will poppies grow back if I mulch the soil?
Hi,
I have a wide lavender flowerbed and some lovely yellow poppies have popped up in the gaps of bare soil and I really like how it looks.
I do need to heavily mulch it though.
I don't know if poppies are reliant on self seeding which might not reach the soil through the mulch or if the existing poppies will reappear?
Thanks

depends what the poppies are. If they're Meconopsis cambrica they're perennial and will survive whatever you do.
In the sticks near Peterborough
And will selfseed prolifically -just to warn you!
Agree with nut & jo, if that's what you've got.
I have welsh poppies (meconopsis cambrica) in my garden.....they're bombproof, and will pop up all over the place, even in pavement cracks ?. Very pretty little plant, although I've no idea how I got it, appeared from nowhere years ago ?
