New gardener - UK Lawn going patchy?

I'm a new (and proud!) garden owner - having lived in an apartment for 10 years I'm now the owner of a medium sized garden.

We've a lawn which was laid about 6-8 months ago - part of a small new development in north Hampshire. We moved into our new place about 5 weeks ago, and the lawn has shown lots of brown patches since we arrived. The garden is SSE facing, so gets plenty of sun. It was hot and dry for 2-3 weeks so we wartered it regularly. It has also been rainy recently so its got a good natural watering too. However nothing has fixed the brown patches - even after providing some liquid plant food.

Does anyone know what is happening to my lovely grass and how to fix it?image

Almost looks as though someone has walked over it with weedkiller on their shoes!

You don't happen to have a dog do you?

  • Nope - no dog peeing on my grass, no neighbours with any pets at all!

If you look very closely is there a pink tinge to the ends of the grass in the patchy areas?

Were the brown patches there before you arrived?
