New gardener - UK Lawn going patchy?

I'm a new (and proud!) garden owner - having lived in an apartment for 10 years I'm now the owner of a medium sized garden.

We've a lawn which was laid about 6-8 months ago - part of a small new development in north Hampshire. We moved into our new place about 5 weeks ago, and the lawn has shown lots of brown patches since we arrived. The garden is SSE facing, so gets plenty of sun. It was hot and dry for 2-3 weeks so we wartered it regularly. It has also been rainy recently so its got a good natural watering too. However nothing has fixed the brown patches - even after providing some liquid plant food. 

Does anyone know what is happening to my lovely grass and how to fix it?image

    Nope - no dog peeing on my grass, no neighbours with any pets at all!

    If you look very closely is there a pink tinge to the ends of the grass in the patchy areas?
