Plant suggestions

Claire204Claire204 Posts: 173

After my viburnum Tinus has been attacked so badly by beetles I am hoping for an alternative hedge idea. I chose virburnum as I wanted a shrub as my borders are in front with pretty cottage plants.

Any ideas what I could plant instead?

Choisya ternata? Mine always flower twice, evergreen, get to a good dense size. Not sure what aspect your area is but that's what I'd go for.

Agree with thejjj, Choisya Ternata is robust and flowers twice for many, and each time it flowers, there is a lovely fragrant smell too. There is also Aztec Pearl, a little more tender, but has a more finer leaf shape. Still has the same qualities as Ternata. If you like the very dark shades of green, Sweet Box, Sarcoccoca is another alternative. Sweet flowers in winter, dark berries, it's definitely as good as Viburnum Tinus. Can do very well in deep shade too.
