Unknown shrub

Hello to all

We have this shrub growing in our drive but we have no idea what it is? Also it is covered in flies.....they look like regular house flies???

Any help would be very appreciated, thanks in advance.image

    Looks like a variety of Euonymus japonicus !

    i have had a little google and you are bang on.

    Any idea as to why its covered in flies.....

    Check the leaves for aphids ; flies are attracted to the sugary bi-product they exude .

    (Charming creatures aren't they)? Try giving a good blasting with water , it may help image . A smaller shrub could be sprayed with a dilute soap solution , but yours looks quite large .
