garden survey plan?

The back of the house to the bottom of the steps is all perpendicular but then it gets difficult.

The fence down the left hand side next to the path I don't think is quite perpendicular to the house, the path itself isn't perpendicular to the steps and you can see the wall is curved.

It is south facing and I want to put in a pergola over the circular patio.

My question is: is it worth it doing a proper survey?

  • A circular pergola? Or one with beams that radiate out from a central point to accentuate the circular paving below Or a square one for contrast? Either will look fab & if the area has recently been paved, it will be secure and level and doesn't get waterlogged so the survey is already done. Will look forward to seeing the result

  • I was thinking about the whole garden, not just for the pergola but you have answered the question image

Maybe I've totally understood, but why do want a survey of the garden if you just want to put up a pergola?

I think the other replies certainly cover the pergola - it wouldn't be too difiicult to put something up even if you have to make it to fit the space, as opposed to buying one 'off the shelf'.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
