Ohhh Nuts

Hi

I have a Hazel Nut tree that i have never thought about but 1 week ago i collected some twin nuts from the ground, left on window sill till today...they seem dry and i wanted to try them before i collect more from the tree.(its 20 feet tall).

Cracked them open and nothing inside...at all....just a thick skin under the shell.

Im sure when i collected these first there was a squidgy blackish stuff inside....i assumed this was a pre nut????

    squidgy back stuff doesn't sound like a baby nut.

    Hazel nuts even green are not ready for a couple of months yet. To eat as fresh.. end August. to keep for xmas they need to be brown husked before you pick them.. end of september. ... IF you beat the squirrels.
