Fallen Magnolia buds on lawn

When composting are these buds regarded as a 'green' or a 'brown?'

    I'd suggest greenimage

Thanks for responding Philippa.  I think you're right.  Since putting 3000 of them in to provide aeration last week, yesterday I noticed they have unexpectedly crumbled due to the damp environment, now I'm trying tiny pine cones instead but feel due to their size the same may happen.
