Black spots on nicandra leaf

Hi

I bought a fantastic plant on Saturday for its unusual looks (and because it was grown in Scotland so will definitely survive here!) - a nicandra

Today I notice small black spots on some of the leaves, but they don't look like pest spots to me - not that I know....!

Does anyone have any clues please?

Thanks

Stephanie, that is the natural colouration of this plant so you have nothing to worry about. It is fine. image

I am sure you are aware of this, but it is an annual, so it will die after flowering.

    Should self seed though.

  • Thanks ladybird, I hoped that would be the case.

Punkdoc, the nice lady at the nursery said it's an annual so my aspiration is to collect seeds and have lots of plants next year. Having said that, I did some research and note that some folk think it is a weed. With such fab and unusual colouring of the black seed heads and stem I'd be happy with that as a weed any day!
