Does anyone have a blue and pink hydrangea planted side by side?

Year after year I have blue and pink next to each other. Am I just lucky or are they actually different types?

I thought the soil had a lot to do with the colours?

  • I used the same fertiliser on them and no other soil amendment well except the odd bit of water from the fish pond nearby. They were faded and mixed last year but this year are distinctly different.

I inherited them in the garden so don't know what type they are but they are pretty, even though not all fully open at the moment.

     So did I. It's a clay soil.

All the hydrangeas around here all seem to be pink with the odd white one. I'm in Suffolk

  • This still confuses me but I am enjoying them :)

I have two next to each other, but didn't plant them so don't know what variety.

The pinky one has overlapped and mingled with the blue one. The 'blue' one seems to have shades of mauve, Lavender and blue all together! I must inspect them tomorrow to see how the flower heads have ended up. Will report back!

Ooh I really want one that stays blue despite the soil!
