what is this weed?

I am new to gardening and would really appreciate help with this problem; there is a weed that is gradually covering over the soil in between my plants. It has tiny green leaves and is very flat and dense. It reminds me of the duckweed you get in ponds. Please can anyone tell me what it is and how I should go about getting rid of it? I've tried scraping it off but it just comes back very quickly!

Many thanks, Julie

Hi Julie ... there's a bit of a glitch on the forum at the moment, otherwise you could post a photo for us.  Hopefully it'll be fixed on Monday.

In the meantime my first thoughts are that it could either be

    Liverwort

    or

Mind-your-own-business also known as Baby's Tears ....  Soleirolia soleirolii (syn. Helxine soleirolii) a creeping perennial with tiny rounded leaves.

Google both of those and see what you think.

Thank you so much - what an excellent forum!

It's definitely 'Baby's Tears' and I've  now been able to look up how to deal with it:)
