Friend or foe?

The blackfly infestation on my apple tree has been joined by these caterpillars, can anyone ID them?image

    I THINK they are baby ladybirds.

    Yes, those a ladybird larvae and are currently scoffing hundreds of those blackfly for you.  Balance has been achieved.

    A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

    Yay! I suspect the ants are out to protect the blackfly but hey, good luck ladybirds. Benefits of organic gardening...

  • They are the best thing to see in your garden. This year I've seen very few ladybirds let alone their larvae. So well done you for the balance  and being brave enough not to spray the black fly, it give the larvae something to eat and flourish.
