Plant ID

GraysGrays Posts: 143

Hi all,

Anyone identify these plants? They are all around the house, and seem to be dotted about in people's gardens all over the street.

Thanks.image

Valerian.  Isn't it lovely?  But its prevalence is a warning.

    warning of self seeding perhaps?

I've never found it  a problem as the seedlings are easily spotted and removed.

Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

It grows along the top of an ancient monastic wall near us and looks very pretty but if it can grow in presumably lime mortar it can grow anywhere one assumes.

oh, ha ha, just read the link and it mentions it growing in old walls.

Sorry if I scared anyone, I just meant that if you introduce it in your garden it will want to spread like mad and be hard to get rid of.

It's not that hard to control ... Just weed out seedlings which are pretty easy to identify.
