What is it ??

I have attached a photo of a grub I came across while I wasimage digging. I am a biginner in the garden . Can anyone help.

    Some kind of  bug or butterfly larvae.?

     Occasional flights into reality. B)

    I'd love to know what it is too!  I found one of them when I was planting something the other day, but by the time i went and got my camera to take a pic, a bird had taken it image

    It's a chrysalis (pupa) of a moth or butterfly ... it's the transitional stage between caterpillar and the adult.

    Leave it where it is or in a similar spot and when it's finished developing the moth or butterfly will emerge.

    Thank you. Now I know, I'll tuck them back in the soil. We need our butterflies and moths.
